Rilwanu Musa Zurmi was born in Zurmi Town of Zurmi Local Government area of ZamfaraState on 10^th January, 1971. He attended Zurmi Township Primary School from 1977 to 1982 where he obtained his Primary School Certificate. He completed his Secondary education in 1988 at Government Teachers College, Zurmi. Rilwanu Musa Zurmi obtained his B.A (ED) and MSc (Economics) degrees at Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto in 1995 and 2002 respectively.

He started his working career as Personnel Assistant in K/Namoda Local Government and rose through the cadre to Senior Admin Officer. He latter transfer his service to Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and serve as project Coordinator of MDGs/ SDGs. He was appointed as Registrar College of Nursing Science Zurmi in February, 2023.

An Administrator and Planning officer trained in Nigeria conversant with public sector administration and planning, he Worked in public sector organizations, including those funded by International Donor Agencies (Debt Relief Gains Fund & United Nations Development Programs) thus gained a broader understanding of both project planning, management and Monitoring and Evaluation. Involved in the Development of Zamfara State Development plan and preparation of state annual Budgets. As State MDGs/ SDGs Focal Person, he Oversee the execution of hundreds of projects across the State worth billions of Naira.

Rilwanu Musa Zurmi was appointed as Permanent Secretary in the Zamfara State Civil Service on 14^th February, 2025 and deployed to Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources as the chief administrative and accounting officer of the Ministry.
