Desert encroachment remains one of the biggest environmental challenges in Northern Nigeria. In response, the Zamfara State Ministry of Environment has launched targeted anti-desertification programs aimed at reclaiming degraded lands and halting the advance of the Sahara.

These efforts include tree planting drives, soil conservation techniques, and community mobilization in vulnerable areas. Schools and local leaders are also being engaged to promote climate education and eco-friendly practices.

This long-term vision is about more than trees—it’s about food security, water conservation, and the resilience of our communities.
